The Right Job at the Right Time

Certified Nurse Assistants have become crucial to the ever-growing health care industry. They provide patient care in hospitals and nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and retirement care communities. With our population aging, this is a job with stability and purpose. Most of all, it is a profession that really reflects the essence of Christian ethics and values.

The position of a Certified Nurse Assistant is ideal if you enjoy being physically active, since the job sometimes entails helping to lift transport patients, bathing and dressing them, even feeding them at times. Under normal conditions, CNAs must pass a state competency exam for certification, after passing the four-week program at NIU College. But right now due to COVID-19, the exam has been waived by the State of California Department of Public Health, allowing students to temporarily skip one of the common requirements.

To be sure, this is a challenging job, but one that offers real gratification to those who thrive on helping to make the lives of others better. As the Bible teaches us, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
