2020 National Hispanic Education Summit Call for Proposals

The Faith and Education Coalition of the NHCLC announces that the 2020 National Hispanic Education Summit Call for Proposals is NOW OPEN.

The National Hispanic Education Summit* addresses the academic challenges and opportunities within the Hispanic student community and presents evolving and innovative practices, strategies, and policies to help universities and churches improve student success and college completion rates. Last year’s Summit attracted a diverse representation of higher-ed and faith leaders from across the U.S. and we anticipate this year’s Summit to do even better. This year’s Summit will take place October 20, 2020, at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and focuses on the theme:

Advancing Hispanic Student Achievement during Unprecedented Times:
Evolving and Innovative Practices and Principles for Universities and Churches

Presenting at the NHCLC National Hispanic Education Summit provides an opportunity to build one’s professional network and résumé and strengthen one’s college’s or church’s institutional capacity for empowering Hispanic students.Whether an educator or pastor, presenting a content-rich session individually or as part of a panel provides a wonderful way to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences which give invaluable insight into policy, programs, and pedagogy for educational leaders, pastors, and other Hispanic stakeholders.

To ensure full consideration, you must submit a 300- to 400-word proposal description. The priority deadline is May 30, 2020. We will consider proposals up until June 30, but only to fill vacant spots when necessary. We will also give special consideration to proposals which address the following topics:

  • Remote learning during crises
  • Remote services during crises (i.e. student services, academic counseling, career counseling, etc.)
  • Remote campus ministry
  • Impact of K-12 outcomes on Higher-Ed outcomes
  • The value of a college degree to Hispanics/Hispanic evangelicals
  • Student debt
  • Non-traditional students
  • Congregational student support

Once submitted, we will send an email acknowledging receipt of the proposal, and thereafter formally notify prospective presenters of their selection status by the end of June for proposals submitted by the priority deadline. Similar topics or proposals may be combined on panels, when appropriate.

Proposal Submission At-a-Glance:

  • May 30: Priority deadline for proposals.
  • June 30: Selection of priority proposals finalized.
  • June 30: Final day to submit proposals for consideration to fill vacant slots.
  • July 31: Selection of all proposals finalized.

Summit presenters and panelists have traditionally arranged and funded travel and lodging through their resident institution, which helps the NHCLC** provide the Summit at little to no cost to attendees. We will inform selected presenters of the availability of NHES Travel Grants when available.

You may submit your proposal or questions to fecoalition@nhclc.org. We look forward to your involvement and contribution!
