FE Coalition, DBU, Engage Hispanic Faith Leaders at NHCLC Board Meeting, Tampa, FL
On April 30th and May 1st, the FE Coalition was blessed to speak before some of America’s and Puerto Rico’s most spiritually-empowered pastors. The NHCLC familia was gathered in Tampa, Florida to discuss business and receive fresh vision and empowerment regarding their work with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), whose president is Rev. Samuel Rodriguez.
On Tuesday, I had the honor of addressing the NHCLC’s Chapter Directors from around the nation to encourage their church’s participation in this year’s Education Sunday which happens every year in September. This year’s theme “Toward Greater Heights” encourages every person and entity – students, parents, churches, and schools – to do their part in ensuring that students rise “toward greater heights” in their education!
On Wednesday, in addition to promoting Education Sunday, I participated in a Biblical Justice panel and addressed Hispanic high-school graduation, college-career readiness, and equity and opportunity gaps which will either impede or improve Hispanic academic achievement. The pastors asked some good questions and were very receptive of our work. Additionally, Dr. Nick Pitts of Dallas Baptist University (DBU), which is NHCLC’s premier education sponsor, talked to our pastors about the Christ-centeredness and academic opportunities of DBU and the yearly $5000 scholarship it awards to a qualified NHCLC student.
The FE Coalition is honored to be a part of such a powerful family of Hispanic pastors who are changing America and carrying out the Lamb’s agenda for the glory of God. Later this month, the FE Coalition will be in San Diego, California at Cornerstone Church for the NHCLC Pastors and Leaders Conference which will equip and empower pastors to more effectively provide visionary and transformative leadership to their churches and communities.
For a Just education,
Rev. Girien Salazar
Director, FE Coalition
